No dilemma for Vancouver foodies this Saturday

omnivoresdilemmaIf you’re concerned about food in North America and you’re in Vancouver, you’ll have no dilemma about what to do this Saturday, June 6: Head for the UBC Farm.

Author Michael Pollan, who wrote the thought-provoking book, The Omnivore’s Dilemma, and more recently, In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto, is appearing at a benefit event for the farm that begins at 1 pm.

In addition to the appearance by Pollan, the afternoon will include guided tours of the farm, as well as live music and entertainment. Bring a picnic lunch!

For tickets, which are $45 and include a signed copy of In Defense of Food, contact Barbara Jo’s Books to Cooks at 604-688-6755.

And if you’re looking to buy locally-grown produce, the UBC Farm Market is open Saturdays from 9 am – 1 pm, beginning June 13 and running into October. Go early, though, since they often run out of favorites — like their delicious salad greens — shortly after they open each week.
