Cirque du Soleil creates new free street show in Quebec City
Love Cirque du Soleil but put off by the sky-high ticket prices? If you’ll be visiting or settling in Quebec City this summer, you’re in luck.
Canada’s most famous circus company has created a new street performance, Les Chemins Invisibles (Invisible Paths), that will roam Quebec City’s Lower Town — for free.
On Wednesday through Sunday evenings, from June 24 through September 6, more than 100 circus artists, including performers from Quebec City’s circus school, will travel through the city.
They’ll depart from three points in the Saint-Roch neighborhood:
On Rue Saint-Dominique at the corner of Saint-Roch and de la Reine
From the corner of Dupont and Saint-Vallier East
From the corner of Léperon and Saint-Vallier.
The circus crew will end up at ÃŽlot Fleurie, under the Dufferin-Montmorency Highway (Hwy 440) overpass, for a free show. And while the performances may not match the top-notch caliber of regular Cirque shows, hey, it’s free!
Performances times vary with the season:
From June 24 to July 26: 9:10 pm
From July 29 to August 23: 9 pm
From August 26 to September 6: 8:30 pm.
Contact Quebec City Tourism for more details about this free event.
Launched in Quebec in June, 1984, Cirque du Soleil is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

My husband and I saw this show this past Tuesday night at the highway overpass. It was absolutely wonderful – such amazing talent. Only downside was that we had been walking around the city all day and then stood in line for 1 and 1/2 hours to get in – then had to stand through the entire show. But it was worth it. It was a highlight of our vacation. Thanks to the performers and organizers for a fine evening.
