Les États-Unis. peut avoir Punxsutawney Phil, mais le Canada a son propre groupe de marmottes qui ont des prévisions météorologiques chaque année le 2 Février, autrement connu comme Jour de la marmotte.

Le plus célèbre peut-être Wiarton Willie, who looks for his shadow on Ontario’s Bruce Peninsula, but there’s also Sam Schubenacadie en Nouvelle-Écosse, Brandon Bob au Manitoba, et Balzac Billy en Alberta.

Selon la légende, si la marmotte voit son ombre le 2 Février, it means that winter will last for six more weeks. As the CBC says,

It’s always been a pack of lies, bien sûr, but it’s fun, et we need fun if we are to survive another Canadian February.
