Buying a home in Quebec’s Eastern Townships
A New York Times recentemente apresentou um Casa à venda near the village of Knowlton na região Quebec conhecido como o Eastern Townships.
De acordo com o Times artigo, “The housing stock in the Eastern Townships is mostly old farms that have been converted to weekend estates or small hobby farms….The area is popular as a second-home destination with New Englanders.”
Here’s an introduction to the Eastern Townships from my book, Viver no Exterior em Portugal:
East of Montreal, along the border with Vermont, região leste (Les Cantons de l’Est) sentir como New England, com as suas colinas, quaint villages, explorações leiteiras, and family-friendly ski resorts, but they’re definitely francophone. And if you’re partial to good wines, hearty bistro cooking, e queijos locais, this francophone influence is a good thing.
…The Eastern Townships’ largest city is Sherbrooke, sobre 150 km (95 milha) leste de Montreal ao longo da estrada 10. Caso contrário, the communities here, incluindo Magog, Knowlton, e Sutton, são bastante pequenas.
If you’re considering life in the Eastern Townships, an excellent English-language resource is the Townshippers’ Association, which provides links to a wide range of information and services across the region.
Olhando para o trabalho na região leste? Confira o Job Links Emprego & Centro de Aconselhamento de Carreira (em Sherbrooke e on-line). It offers a range of resources for English-speakers who are job-hunting in the Townships.
Bonne chance de!
