Amerikano Thanksgiving: Huwag mo ito makaligtaan?
As an American who has lived in Canada for several years, I don’t find myself missing that much about the U.S.
I do miss my family and friends. Magandang Mexican na pagkain sa ngayon at pagkatapos ay. At maaaring Hulyo 4 picnics.
Ngunit dumating ang ika-apat na linggo ng Nobyembre, I miss Amerikano Thanksgiving.
And when I talk with my expat friends here in Canada, marami sa kanila ring sabihin na Thanksgiving makes them homesick.
Talaga, Canada has its own Thanksgiving holiday. But it’s just not the same big-deal event that turkey day is in the U.S.
So if you’re feeling homesick in Canada this week, narito ang ilang mga tips for beating the Thanksgiving blues:
- Host your own Thanksgiving dinner. Oo, I know everyone has to work on Thursday, but you can organize a Thanksgiving meal on the weekend.
- Kumonekta sa mga iba pang mga Amerikano expat. May Amerikano expat group sa Toronto (including a Meetup Group, isang Amerikano sa Toronto Facebook Club, at isang American Women’s Club), Montreal (both a Facebook Group at isang American Women’s Club), Vancouver, at Victoria (BC). Maaari ka ring makahanap ng iba pang mga expat sa pamamagitan ng Facebook’s Americans in Canada group at sa pamamagitan ng National Newcomers’ Council of Canada.
- Magboluntaryo. If you have a lot to be thankful for, share that holiday cheer with others. For volunteer opportunities, makita Volunteer Canada, Volunteer Toronto, Pumunta kusang loo Vancouver, Réseau de l’action bénévole du Québec, at Volunteer Alberta.

And wherever you are, have a happy American Thanksgiving!
